Málaga Femenino’s fortress: the Municipal de Cártama
The Club thanked the mayor of Cártama, Jorge Gallardo, and the councillor for sports, Juan Rodríguez for welcoming Málaga CF’s women’s team so warmly.
The Municipal de Cártama ground has been a lucky charm for Málaga CF Femenino. The house of the Blue and White warriors became a fortress. Only one draw slightly dimmed a phase dominated by victories – 14 in total within the regular league and the promotion playoffs.
Málaga CF advisers, Francisco Martín Aguilar and Abdallah Ben Barek presented the mayor of Cártama, Jorge Gallardo, and the councillor for sports, Juan Rodríguez with a ‘biznaga de plata’. For their part, they presented Málaga CF Femenino with a shield of the town.
Malaguista fans filled the stands at the municipal ground on many occasions, and enjoyed some historic moments such as the victory against Granada CF, winning the league championship title and the celebration of the last match of the promotion playoffs to Liga Iberdrola.
Statements by Jorge Gallardo, mayor of Cártama
“It’s an honour for us and we’d like to congratulate the team. We have presented the team and the coach, Antonio Contreras with a shield of our town, and I say again how much of an honour it is that they have played their first season here in Cártama, which also helped them to win promotion. They’ve done a great job and we’re thrilled as Cártama assisted Málaga Femenino to gain First Division promotion”.
“We’re very close, only 18 kilometres from the capital, and there’s great access and ample parking. We are trying to see if next year Málaga Femenino will also play at our stadium in the First Division, which would be wonderful for us. They have a home here”.
