Málaga Femenino, more of a leader than ever (2-1)

Thanks to goals from Raquel and Adriana, the Blue and Whites defeated their main competitor, Granada CF Femenino. The Malaguistas lead the standings with 43 points, accumulating their eighth game on the bounce without a loss.

Málaga CF Femenino defeated Granada CF Femenino by 2-1 on matchday 16 of the Segunda División Nacional Group IV. Goals from Raquel (1-0) and Adriana (2-1) led Antonio Contreras’ girls to victory, to maintain the group top spot with 43 points.

The most important match of the season was at stake. Both teams came out with the aim of dominating possession and going in front on the scoreboard. This led to possession being divided between both sides during the initial stages of play. Up until minute 11. At that moment, Raquel opened the scoring with a superb goal without any difficulties, after ridding herself of the Granada defence (1-0).

Following the goal by the Malaguistas, the Red and Whites increased the pressure, but they came up against Chelsea in the Málaga goal. Both teams were equal, and the match turned into a dispute for possession of the ball. Granada began to dominate in the Málaga area, and following various saves by Chelsea, Urre managed to beat the Blue and Whites’ keeper to go level, 1-1, in minute 36. The last 10 minutes were only marked by a yellow card the referee showed to Pamela, and at half-time, the score remained at 1-1.

After the break, Málaga came out much more reinforced, and just three minutes into the second half, Adriana hooked the ball and without hesitation sank it into the back of the net to take a 2-1 lead. During the second half, Málaga Femenino dominated the ball better, and made dangerous approaches to the Granada area, although without success. In 83’, Contreras gave minutes to the latest signing to the Malaguista squad, Shiv. There wasn’t time for much else, and at the final whistle, the scoreboard showed a 2-1 result and the fans went crazy for the girls. The Blue and Whites continue to lead the table with 43 points thanks to this victory.
