Málaga claim three points against a tough rival (0-1)

Victory for Málaga CF away to Atlético de Madrid 'B' on Primera Federación matchday 32. Roberto, the Malaguistas’ top scorer, scored the only goal of the game in the first half (26').

Málaga CF faced Atlético de Madrid 'B' on this hot Sunday afternoon - April 14 - on Primera Federación matchday 32. The duel kicked off at 18:00 at the Ciudad Deportiva Wanda Atlético in Madrid in front of around 2,300 people - 1,200 Malaguistas.

The Blue and White fans received the 11 players that Pellicer lined up for the game with a loud ovation when they took to the pitch: A. Herrero; Jokin, Nelson, Juande, Victor; Genaro, Manu Molina; David Larrubia, Kevin, Dani Lorenzo and Roberto were in the starting line-up.

The Blue and Whites (wearing yellow and lime on this occasion) dominated possession during the first 45 minutes, enjoyed the clearest options and controlled the pulse of the game.

Larrubia was the first to try his luck from the front. The number '10' received the ball on the edge of the area, he accommodated it with oriented control that allowed him to get away from the rival and execute the shot with power. The shot sailed a few centimetres over the crossbar in the 4th minute of play.

Kevin starred in the next two attempts in the 10th and 13th minutes. The winger first looked for a surprising shot from the very edge of the area. After a good personal move, he launched a powerful shot to the target at the near post, but the Colchonero goalkeeper guessed the intention. Afterwards, he went in from the left wing to the same area to take another shot, but the goalkeeper made another safe save.

The Malaguistas' superiority became more evident as the minutes passed and, finally, the score was 0-1. A great triangulation started by Kevin, continued with a masterful pass between the lines by Dani Lorenzo, and finished by a lethal Roberto to put us in front. The striker was able to stay unmarked in front of the goalkeeper thanks to extraordinary control and, with confidence, shot low to the side to score a superb goal (0-1, 26').

After several exchanges of approaches without significant danger between the two teams, it was half-time.

The match continued with the same intensity in the second half. Roberto was very close to doubling the Malaguista lead in the 57th minute of play. Víctor sent him an assist from the left wing that the striker headed in from point-blank range. Despite sending the ball to the ground to make it difficult for the goalkeeper, he made a spectacular low save and managed to deflect it to the disbelief of those present.

Dioni almost made it 0-2 in the 80th minute. The forward received an assist from Avilés in a dizzying counterattack and served the ball to the number '17'. He managed to finish despite good pressure from the rival defence, but the goalkeeper made another good save.

In the final stretch, the home team looked for an equaliser and Málaga CF maintained a more defensive profile, looking for a counterattack in which they could seal the match. However, the scoreboard didn’t move again and the match ended 0-1.
