Málaga CF youth team qualifies for the Copa del Rey

Málaga Club de Fútbol’s youth team in the ‘División de Honor’ League, qualified for the Copa del Rey last weekend, after finishing the League in second place.

Alberto González’s boys have qualified for the Copa del Rey, following five years without a Málaga team in this national competition.  The Málaga CF youth team is waiting to see who their rival will be in the first leg of the competition, taking place on the 13th May, and the second leg on the 20th May.  “Playing in a national tournament helps the team to grow, and playing against teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona or Español gives us more motivation for the season final”.

“We’d have liked to have won the League.  We did our part, and won the last match, but we needed the leaders not to score.  However, we’re really pleased to have finished in second place”, says González, who went on to say “we’ve fulfilled our objectives, and the players have all progressed and developed”.
