Málaga CF Statement

Málaga Club de Fútbol, S.A.D. Official Statement

For the past few days we have carefully listened to the criticisms made by a part of the followers of Malaga about the club´s results in the transfer market that closed this past Monday, September 2nd. We are obliged to inform the fans that the reality is that the President instructed the employees of the club to make everything within our reach to incorporate new players. That explains the hiring of players like Okazaki and José Rodríguez. It was not Malaga´s fault that Okazaki and José Rodríguez were not able to be registered. We did everything we could, as the President desired. LaLiga kept blocking those registrations even though we tried to accommodate to their changing requirements. LaLiga alleged that the salary limit was exceeded, when those players were “free”, as they had no existing agreements with other previous clubs. This situation allowed their hiring in economic conditions that were perfectly acceptable by Málaga. Until the last minute we have tried with all our energy that LaLiga modified its criteria, admitted those inscriptions and, therefore, allowed us to compete on equal terms to the other teams, but, as you all know, the final result of those attempts was unfortunately negative.

This situation explains the absence of important new hires, and that, in the case of Okazaki, against the interests of the club, we had to access the request of the player to be allowed to join another club where he could compete this season, with his commitment to return to Malaga during the next season.

Despite the difficulties we have had to face, we will fight, with the help of the fans, to make a great season. We rely on the quality and hard work of the players and the fantastic work of the technical team, led by their coach, Víctor Sánchez del Amo. The whole team already demonstrated last season that great results can be obtained thanks to everyone's effort.

We are convinced that, in the upcoming months, the economic situation of the club will improve, and that we will be in a position to make Málaga’s fans proud again to belong to this GREAT FAMILY. We will work tirelessly to achieve this goal with the support of our great fans. GOOD LUCK, and we ask you that we all support our team so that we can return to the position that corresponds to this great club, the First Division.

Thank you, we will not disappoint the followers of this historic Málaga C.F. Strength, malaguistas!
