Matchday 7 of the 11/12 season has historical overtones for Malaguismo. On 1st October 2011 so many things were seen that would be difficult to see again at Martiricos. Hopefully we’re wrong.
Málaga-Getafe had absolutely everything. The rival from Madrid went ahead twice on the scoreboard, remaining in front until 86’ by 1-2. Beforehand, the 1-1 was scored by Ruud van Nistelrooy with a superb goal. Maresca went level in 87’ and in 92’, in the second minute of stoppage time, came the goal. Stunning, beauty, extreme difficulty… Julio Baptista scored with a bicycle kick perhaps the best goal ever seen at La Rosaleda.
3-2 final score, ecstasy in the stands, and Málaga slept that night as provisional leaders of the table for the first time in MCF’s history. Incredible, but true.
