Málaga CF commemorates La Rosaleda’s 75th anniversary

Málaga Club de Fútbol, via its Foundation, presents the 75th Anniversary Logo of La Rosaleda stadium, on an historic day, 13th April.

Coinciding with the first match played at the Martiricos ground 75 years ago today, the Club celebrated an event framed as the starting point for the activities planned for next season.  The Juan Cortés press room was witness to the presentation of La Rosaleda’s 75th Anniversary logo.  This act coincides with the first match played at Martiricos 75 years ago, in which CD Malacitano defeated AD Ferroviaria (6-0) in the Copa del Generalísimo game.  The match was moved to La Rosaleda due to the storm that destroyed the pitch at Baños del Carmen.

Nayef Al Thani, member of the Málaga Club de Fútbol Board of Directors, was present at the event, in which Club advisers; Antonio Benítez, Ben Barek and Francisco Martín Aguilar were also in attendance, along with representatives from the three institutions that own the stadium – highlighting the presence of Málaga Mayor, Francisco de la Torre; delegate from the Junta de Andalucía, José Luis Ruiz Espejo; and Provincial Government president, Elías Bendodo.

The first 75 Club members, invited by the entity, were witness to the event, and presented with a silver-plated badge bearing La Rosaleda’s 75th anniversary logo.  Manuel Fuentes Campesino was also recognised, the first goal-scorer at La Rosaleda on 13th April 1941 (scored five goals that day, and still holds the record for the highest number of goals in a Cup match as a Malaguista to this day) with one of his sons in attendance, Francisco Fuentes, who was presented with a commemorative shirt by the Club.

Duda was present, representing the team, and a symbol of the Club’s history (he is the player who has taken part in the most matches with Málaga CF in the First Division, and third highest goal-scorer in history in the top flight, with 35 goals).  Raúl Iznata, the grandson of Chales was also in attendance, the player and coach who marked an era as a Malaguista, and who took part in that first match on 13th April 1941.  They posed with the official team kit, and a large version of La Rosaleda’s 75th anniversary logo on the pitch at the stadium.

They all represent the Club and the three institutions.  A shirt, bearing the new logo, will be worn by Málaga CF in next Sunday’s game against Athletic Club, to commemorate the anniversary.  The Club has also put on sale 75 exclusive shirts with the 75th anniversary logo of La Rosaleda, signed by the Malaguista first team, at the official store at Martiricos.
