Málaga CF, Carranza eSports runner-up

Iván Jaime took the Blue and Whites to the final of the first Trofeo Carranza eSports, in which Cádiz CF, with Fali at the helm, won by 3-4.

What a shame! Iván Jaime’s Málaga CF didn’t manage to take the title in the FIFA 20 solidarity tournament organised by Cádiz CF, involving 21 out of the 22 teams in LaLiga SmartBank, set up to raise funds for the fight against COVID-19.

Iván and his Málaga put on a simply outstanding performance right up until the end. In the initial round the Blue and Whites defeated CD Mirandés (0-5) followed by Elche CF in the round of 16 (0-8). In the quarter-finals (above image), Iván knew how to suffer to overcome RC Deportivo (3-1). Then in the semis, an impressive performance resulted in a huge 9-1 victory against Rayo Vallecano.

This Friday evening, in the grand final, Iván lost out to Fali’s Cádiz by a tight 3-4. All the goals were scored in the first half, with Cádiz enjoying a 1-4 lead at one point. Tete Morente scored the first equaliser (1-1), then two goals from Pacheco made it 3-4 before half-time. In the second half, the Cádiz defence prevented a hard-working Málaga from getting a goal to go level.

Congratulations to Cádiz CF for the tournament and the initiative. Iván, you are a fantastic FIFA player! Excellent job!
