Málaga CF and Coca-Cola present #FútbolconBuenAmbiente

Both entities are launching, with the collaboration of Ecoembes, #FútbolconBuenAmbiente, an initiative aimed at fans who come to La Rosaleda, between February and June, to raise awareness about the importance of recycling in caring for the environment.

For this initiative, an activity will be carried out during Málaga Club de Fútbol matches at Martiricos as from next month that involves the installation of yellow containers personalised with iconic elements from the Club, for fans to dispose of waste from the stadium such as plastic bottles, drinks cans and snack packets, to add to the containers already at the stadium. This initiative is being undertaken in collaboration with Ecoembes, the company in charge of managing recycling waste deposited in the yellow containers (plastic containers, cans and cartons) and blue containers (paper and cardboard) in Spain.

In the second phase, the plastic waste will be recycled, and the material obtained from this process will be re-used, giving it a second life. #FútbolconBuenAmbiente will get underway at the next home match against UD Almería, corresponding to matchday 24 of LaLiga 1|2|3.

From the Coca-Cola entity, they are “delighted to be able to collaborate with Málaga Club de Fútbol in this initiative that seeks to raise awareness of the importance of recycling for the conservation and care of our environment. We are convinced that the fans will respond in a very positive way to this action and help us to collect as much waste as possible, to which we can give a new life and re-use”, says Alejandro García Alonso, Head of Communication of the South East Region at Coca-Cola European Partners Iberia.

For their part, Málaga CF is very pleased to be collaborating in favour of environmental sustainability, shown in a promotional video starring Munir, Cifuentes, Renato Santos and Seleznov. The Club is encouraging fans to get involved with this worthy cause and wants to encourage this collaboration by offering a unique experience to those Malaguistas who take part. MCF is proud to be the third club to implement this initiative and is aware of the need for a FútbolconBuenAmbiente.

Committed to recycling

Within its sustainability policy for Western Europe, “Avanzamos”, Coca-Cola has designed a packing strategy around the concept of circular economy, which involves the efficient use of resources and recovering waste to be re-used to become raw material once again. For this it has established objectives in each of the three key phases of the value chain – design, collection and use of recycled materials – in which it is involved.

This strategy includes five essential commitments: design for recycling, to ensure that the packaging used for the drinks is recyclable or reusable; to use the reach of the brand to inspire and educate consumers abut the importance of recycling; collaborating in the collection of 100% of its containers; ensuring that 50% of the material used in the PET bottles comes from recycled plastic; and the innovation of sustainable packaging, including the materials of renewable packaging and the new delivery mechanisms for products that reduce waste.

Agreement with Ecoembes

The contract with Málaga CF is the 13th agreement signed by Ecoembes with a football club, with Málaga CF being the second team from LaLiga 1|2|3.

Through this agreement, Málaga CF and Ecoembes improve the separate waste collection system at La Rosaleda via the installation of containers and bins at the stadium to facilitate recycling to all visitors.
