Málaga bring back a point from Tenerife (0-0)

The robust Blue and White defence worked until the 95th minute against CD Tenerife. Sergio Pellicer’s men claimed a point from tonight’s away game. Keidi Bare abandoned the field of play in 44’ following a second yellow card.

Málaga CF arrived on the island of Tenerife protected by the strict protocol set by LaLiga to safeguard the team’s health within this new reality. Maintaining the required distance between one another on the plane and bus, at the concentration hotel and even on the bench, within a transitory atmosphere that must be adhered to for the good of the entire squad and everyone.

As in the previous match at La Rosaleda against SD Huesca, the Malaguistas were again playing behind closed doors, although on this occasion the pressure in the atmosphere would go against the team. In terms of sport, both teams stepped on to the pitch with the clear intention of controlling possession. CD Tenerife created a few opportunities in the opening stages – an indirect free kick after four minutes in the heart of the area and a lost ball in the area that found the post and was blocked by Munir. The Blue and White defence (dressed in pink this evening) managed to deactivate the rival attacks with solvency. The balance of play almost remained unchanged on the pitch, however just before the half-time whistle, the referee showed a second yellow card to Keidi Bare, sending him off in minute 44.

The scoreboard remained at 0-0 at the end of the first half.

In the second half, equality continued to prevail, despite the visitors being down to 10 men. Both sides shared possession, and although the locals made some approaches, the Málaga defence effectively repelled them. Munir, with a masterful appearance, cleared a shot from point-blank range, the most promising attempt for the home side in 66’. With a man down, Pellicer’s team stayed true to type and contained the opponent’s attacks as Tenerife attempted to make the most of their numerical superiority without success. Munir’s effectiveness in goal shone again, saving Nahuel’s shot in 80’. The Blue and White defence abounded, resolving the rivals’ opportunities without any problems.

The 0-0 on the scoreboard remained the same until minute 95 when the referee called full time.
