M. Torres: “We’re lucky to have a coach like Juande”
The Madrid-born defender talks to the media before heading on the tour of central Europe: “Now we face the most important part of the pre-season, the competition.”
Concepts of Juande Ramos
“We’ve still not focused too deeply on the tour. We’re working very well. We’re very lucky to have a coach like Juande Ramos. He knows a great deal about football, and is trying to ensure we adapt to what he wants from us as quickly as possible. Now we’re looking forward to playing matches and competing, and we hope the team performs at the level wanted by the coach.”
Daily work
“Training sessions are very intense and demanding, but we always use the ball, which for us is a big motivation. Now we face the most important part of the pre-season, the competition, where each player must prove what he can bring to the team and the coach. We’re all very excited at the prospect of playing good matches, preparing well and starting the season the best way we can, which is what we all want.”
Signings
“Important players have arrived here, with a great hunger for football and eager to show what they can do in order to reach the level of the team, which is always good. There’s a lot of competition for every position. It’s not going to be easy for the coach to select a starting-11 for each game. The idea is to work hard in order to gain the coach’s confidence.”
Group dynamic
“We are a friendly bunch, and we always try to make the new players’ work as easy as we can when they arrive. We’re a healthy group, and always think of the collective. The new signings have managed to integrate very well, keen to take part in the group and contribute from a footballing aspect, which is important.”
