The first of 42 kilometres of this Malaguista marathon in LaLiga 1|2|3 couldn’t have got off to a better start. We review the positives of an unbeatable debut.
After more than a decade, Málaga CF played a match in the silver division of Spanish football. With courage and heart the team achieved the first victory of the 2018/19 season, with a 1-2 win at Anxo Carro in Lugo with goals from Juankar and N'Diaye.
4 out of 4 in the initial Second Division match
For MCF’s fourth time in the Second Division, they didn’t miss out on a win in the first game of the season. The precedents were positive against Eibar (98/99), Hércules (06/07) and Salamanca (07/08) with the fourth victory in four matches at the start of the competition.
The Double H, for homegrown
A special day for the effervescent MCF Academy. Jack Harper and Hicham Boussefiane joined the long list of homegrown players who made their first team debut. The striker from Fuengirola, in the starting line-up, brought enthusiasm and presence on the attack; the Moroccan, coming off the bench, served as the perfect revulsive to generate the equaliser.
Signings and re-debut of Muñiz
Munir, Pau Torres, N’Diaye and Renato Santos, in the starting line-up, and Blanco Leschuk, who joined Lugo-Málaga in the final stages, were the summer signings who debuted wearing the Malaguista jersey. It was also the first official match for coach Muñiz in his fourth stage at the Club, claiming his 31st victory in 75 games with MCF in the Second Division.
N’Diaye is the bomb.
Arrive and kiss the saint. The French-Senegalese pivot was decisive in his debut with Málaga CF. He responded to the great expectation generated by his signing with an intense performance in the wide area, and on the attack scored a superb header into goal worthy of three points. Imperial.
The Málaga of comebacks returns
During the recent Juande Ramos stage (2016/17), Málaga specialised in turning adverse results around in the final minutes. The team savoured that fantastic feeling in Lugo that they haven’t done since last year, at La Rosaleda, coming back from 1-2 down against Deportivo de la Coruña to win 3-2 on LaLiga matchday 12 (19th November 2017).
