No reward for Women’s team against Spartak (1-3)

Celia Ruano scored a superb goal for the Blue and Whites against the Serbian side, currently competing in the UEFA Champions League.

Antonio Contreras’ girls played an intense match, but the Serbian rival scored a goal after 4 minutes. Despite the Blue and Whites’ dominance, Tcheury scored the 0-2 in 15’ with a goal from outside the area. At 0-2 down the Malaguista squad piled on the pressure with Armisa having a chance to make it 1-2 in minute 18, but the ball ended up being blocked by the rival keeper. Málaga controlled play and possession, however the goal chances didn’t materialise.

Armisa and Adriana shared possession and chances to get a goal. The captain had the clearest opportunity in 40’ with a free kick towards the post, but was deflected by goalkeeper, Kostic. There was no time for more in the first half, and at half-time the scoreboard remained at 0-2.

Following the break, Spartak Subótica controlled possession and in minute 45 took a 0-3 lead with a shot at the target that was impossible for Stefany to save. Málaga didn’t give up and approached the Serbian area with increasing danger. In the 60th minute, Natalia and Dominika had a double occasion to narrow the gap, but the ball ended up in the hands of the Spartak keeper. In 62’, Celia Ruano joined the match and eight minutes later the ‘killer’ took the score to 1-3 with an impressive goal from outside the area slammed into the back of the net. With two minutes until the final whistle, the player from the Canaries had another opportunity, but her header didn’t find the net and the final result was 1-3.
