La Rosaleda pays tribute to Viberti ahead of the match against Valencia CF

Former player and coach of Club Deportivo Málaga, Sebastián Humberto Viberti, passed away today at the age of 68, leaving behind a great sadness amongst the Club and the fans, who today lost a legend.

Born in Argentina, but in love with Málaga, Viberti leaves behind a legacy of great memories and moments of glory from the Martiricos Club, where fans chanted his name from the terraces at La Rosaleda in the 70’s.

Forged by the history and success of the now extinct Club Deportivo Málaga, Málaga Club de Fútbol mourns the loss of one of the greats, and dedicates today’s match against Valencia CF to his memory.  The players will wear a black armband this evening, Carlos Gardel’s ‘Adios muchachos’ will be played in the stadium, as well as a minute’s silence before the match, and in the 5th minute of the game – representing the number 5 shirt he wore as a player – his name will be chanted throughout the stadium.  Various images of the Argentinean-born player will also be shown at La Rosaleda before kick-off.

Everyone at the Martiricos Club sends their deepest sympathy to the family, friends and former colleagues of Sebastián, whose legacy will live on in the future of Málaga.
