Aitor Embela, part of the ‘Juvenil’ team which competes in Group 4 of the ‘División de Honor’ under coach, Manel Ruano, is the son of former footballer, José Manuel Embela, who was with the Blue and Whites in 1996/97. Born in Figueras (Gerona), Aitor says he is “very proud to represent Equatorial Guinea, and take part in the Africa Cup on home soil in front of the fans and perform well.” This will be the first time the ‘Malaguista’ visits the birthplace of his grandfather.
The Argentine coach has also selected another player from Málaga CF’s youth ranks, José Machín Dicombo, although Pepín decided to wait a little longer to commit to representing the country where his mother was born, and will not be taking part in the Africa Cup.
