Kilometre 21: Málaga-Alavés

The team returned to winning ways last Sunday (1-0) at home, accumulating eight out of 12 points in the last four games at La Rosaleda. With this win, and keeping a clean sheet, the team is now just two points from safety.

Blue and White Sunday

What a wonderful Blue and White day. First, the delight of Argentina winning the 2022 World Cup against France, their third world title. However, the most important match kicked off at 21:00 as the Malaguistas brought an end to the first round of the league competition at La Rosaleda. They needed a win to end the year on a high note and confirm the good sensations of recent games. And they did just that.

Chavarría scores, Chavarría smiles

It’s a good moment for the Malaguista striker. Two starting line-ups, two goals and two big matches starting on the right wing. As he did in Can Misses, Pablo opened the scoring to put the team 1-0 in front. The score remained the same and Pablo, like everyone else, had a big smile!

Three games in a row with points

Five points from the last three league games. A well-deserved draw in the derby against Granada CF (1-1), the same result in Can Misses, with a performance that didn’t get the deserved result, and a big win against Deportivo Alavés (1-0), one of the standout rivals in LaLiga SmartBank. The improvement of the team in this section of the competition is undeniable and the team is confident heading into 2023 to move up the table.

Clean sheet

The Malaguistas were solid in defence during the match and managed to keep a clean sheet. This is the fourth clean sheet of the season, the last times were in Santander and against Andorra and Ponferradina at La Rosaleda.

Four unbeaten matches at the temple

Following a long streak of games without a win at La Rosaleda, the team has changed the dynamic. The draws against Real Sporting and Granada CF, both ending in a 1-1 draw, and the victories against SD Ponferradina and Deportivo Alavés, both by 1-0, mean that Pepe Mel's team have scored eight points out of the last 12 played at home. Next up, CD Tenerife.

La Rosaleda bids farewell to 2022

Despite the difficulties during 2022, the Malaguista fans have always cheered on the team at La Rosaleda and also away from home. In the first round of the competition, 150,969 Malaguistas passed through the temple, an average of over 16,000 per game. The connection with the team has returned to Martiricos and it will be key to achieving the goal of making La Rosaleda a fortress.
