Kilometre 19: Sadiku’s big night

The Malaguista forward scored a brace against CD Tenerife to the delight of Blue and White fans at a committed La Rosaleda.

Málaga CF - CD Tenerife left us some standout points. Here’s a brief summary:

Sadi-goal

Sadiku scored two goals to become the Blue and Whites’ top scorer with a total of six goals. The forward executed a rapid shot from the heart of the area to net the first of his two goals. In the second, he showed personality and security by firmly taking control of the ball from the penalty spot. Seconds later, he launched a great shot from the 11-metre mark to score his second goal of the game.

VAR helped the referee

VAR allowed the referee to award a penalty in favour of Málaga CF in minute 74 of play. An arm clearance from a rival defender went unnoticed in the eyes of the referee, but the technology helped to flag up the action and the Blue and Whites doubled their advantage.

Out of the relegation zone

Málaga CF - CD Tenerife pitted two direct rivals against one another in the standings. Victory allowed the home side to move away from the danger zone and end matchday 19 in 18th place with 20 points.

The return of the captain

Adrián González was back in action after four games having overcome injury (since 1/11/19 - #PonferradinaMálaga). The number ‘8’ was in the starting line-up and was again decisive in the circulation of the ball in midfield.

Match number 100 for Luis Hernández

Last Friday the central defender reached 100 official matches with Málaga CF. Since he arrived on the Costa del Sol on 24th January 2017, Luis has been instrumental in the team’s defence.

May there be many more!
