Kilometre 13: The splendour of Antoñín

Antonio Cortés Heredia. His name will forever remain in the history of #MálagaRealOviedo. From the left corner of the area, he scored the first goal and forced the penalty that led to the second goal. Brilliant.

There were many highlights from Málaga CF’s last match, at La Rosaleda against Oviedo, in LaLigaSmartBank. Here we review the 2-1 result in our kilometre!

Decisive Antoñín

His participation with two Malaguista goals was transcendental. In minute 55 of play, from the left side of the area, he opened the scoring with a fantastic manoeuvre and a superb cross shot. A few minutes later, from a similar position, he forced a penalty that led to the 2-0 lead. The second league goal from the player from La Palmilla and both at Martiricos. The fans’ ovation was unforgettable, in 74’ when he was substituted.

Adrián’s temple

The captain is an accomplished specialist from the penalty spot. His goal, the third of the season, ties him as the Blue and White pichichi with Sadiku. A good reward for his work in midfield together with Keidi Bare.

The return of Pacheco

Having overcome injury for just over a month, Dani returned to VSDA’s starting-11 and he played at a very good level. Advanced on the left wing, he was very active and dangerous in corner kicks. In addition, in the first half, he came close to an Olympic goal with a shot that grazed the post of the Oviedo goal. In numbers, 23 accurate passes with 88% effectiveness. Notable performance for the player from Pizarra

The first at home and the second on the run

It took a while to get going, but Málaga 19/20 has started to take flight in terms of results. Following a negative streak, the team has accumulated two consecutive wins in A Coruña and against Oviedo. And, the most important thing, in front of the fans, the team celebrated the first victory at La Rosaleda this season. Let’s keep it up!

16th place

Equality in LaLiga SmartBank, a trend in recent seasons, sees the positions and differences between teams vary greatly over a short period of time. MCF’s classification is significant, 16th place with 14 points, one above the relegation zone, but just five points from sixth place. Rayo Vallecano mark the last of the play-off positions with 19 points. There’s a long way to go yet, anything can happen, both at the top and at the bottom of the table.
