Sergio Gontán ‘Keko’, who is beginning his second season with Málaga CF, speaks to #MCFTV to review the first few days of the Blue and Whites’ pre-season.

Pre-season and new players

“We’re doing very well, and feel happy and excited, as in all pre-seasons. We’re acclimatising and getting to know the new players. They’ve all been well received and are feeling very comfortable. We’re tired as we don’t stop running, but that’s what the pre-season is all about”.

Eager

“I’m very eager and raring to go. However, I’ve always been like that, it has no merit (laughs)”.

Adrián and Borja Bastón

“From a footballing aspect, it’s not up to me to judge them. They are two people who are going to bring a great deal to the dressing room. Adrián is an experienced First Division player and will bring his vast experience to the team. I’ve played with Borja since I was young at Atlético de Madrid, and I love him a lot. I hope he scores many goals”.

Starting from scratch

“We cannot let ourselves be influenced by last year. The team is changing a lot, meaning we’re starting from scratch”.

Pre-season games

“We’re looking forward to playing matches and competing, which is what footballers like doing most. Regardless of whether they’re pre-season matches, we want to start playing now”.
