Following the great performance from the MCF Academy team in the Copa de Campeones, where they were proclaimed runners-up after defeating FC Barcelona and RC Celta de Vigo in the quarter and semi-finals respectively, and losing to Real Madrid (0-1) in the grand final, the objective now is the Copa del Rey.
With illusions intact, the Juvenil División de Honor players left Málaga on the AVE train to Valencia on Saturday morning. On arrival in the Turia capital, they boarded a coach to get to the final destination, hotel Vila-Real Palace in the Castellón locality. Dely Valdés had prepared a light training session for the boys to stretch the muscles and make the finishing touches ahead of the Cup match against Villarreal CF.
The first leg is taking place at the Castellón-based team’s Mini Estadi de la Ciudad Deportiva (Sunday, 12:00). The return leg is being held next weekend in Málaga.
Re-match
Málaga CF and Villarreal CF have already clashed in the Copa del Rey of this category last season, also in the round of 16. The Yellows ended up winning the tie.
