Juanpi Añor scores one goal and sets up another in last match of South American Tournament

The Venezuelan team, including La Academia player, Juan Pablo Añor, were knocked out of the South American Tournament following a 2-2 draw with Uruguay last night. The ‘Malaguista’ scored Venezuela’s second goal and help to set up the first.

Part of the starting 11, Juanpi created the first goal opportunity for Venezuela’s Josef Martínez from just outside the penalty area, but he failed to get the goal.  However the ‘Malaguista’ soon landed another chance for Martínez, who opened the scoring for Venezuela.  As Uruguay equalised, Juanpi scored an impressive second goal to put them in the lead by 2-1.  However Uruguay equalised again, leaving Venezuela out of the tournament and also the World Cup qualifiers in this category.

Juan Pablo Añor took part in the last two matches with the ‘Vinotinto’ side in the South American Tournament.  He played for the last 14 minutes in the game against Brazil, but was on the pitch for 90 minutes against Uruguay.  He played a total of 104 minutes, scored one goal, set up another, was given one yellow card and committed six fouls.

Venezuela have been knocked out of the first phase of the competition, following a victory against Ecuador (0-1), two defeats against Peru (1-0) and Brazil (1-0) and a draw with Uruguay (2-2).
