Juande: “We want to maintain the strength we’ve shown at home”

The Málaga CF coach talks in the lead-up to #MálagaSporting: “They are a young team, full of enthusiasm and ambition; I foresee a tight, difficult game”.

Match against Sporting de Gijón: “Undoubtedly, every match is important, particularly at home.  We’re up against a rival who, currently, are close to us.  In our upcoming away games, we’ll face teams in the top part of the table.  Perhaps that is why tomorrow’s home game, and the three points are so important.  We want to maintain the strength we’re shown in our recent home matches”.

Needy rival: “The same as all players in that situation, with a necessity to gain points in every game.  Sporting de Gijón are a young team, with homegrown players, who are full of enthusiasm and ambition.  I say the same every week, we must work hard in all First Division matches, and make as few mistakes as possible, in order to win.  Tomorrow’s duel will be no different.  I foresee a tight, difficult game.  We’ll need to work hard and do a lot of things right to win”.

League break after the match: “The three points are the most important, whether it be seven days later or 15, due to the League break.  It’s certainly true that going into a break following a win allows you more time to enjoy it.  If it’s a poor result, you have to suffer for a longer time”.

Team performance: “I’ve said in previous weeks, I’m not happy with the performance of the team, I think they need to improve, they can improve and will improve.  Within this situation, being in 11th place in the table, it gives me immense hope that the team is capable of great things.  If we can stay in a mid-table position, despite all the injuries and other situations, when the team improves further, the scope for growth is extensive”.
