Jozabed: “We have to save ourselves no matter what”

The Malaguista midfielder spoke at the end of #MálagaRealOviedo. “We were determined to get the three points and close the gap; we want to win as soon as possible and when we don’t, it hurts,” he stated.

Jozabed held a press conference after the match at La Rosaleda against Real Oviedo. “Football is all about results and you have to be realistic. We have had poor results for a while now and this is a demanding place. We live on the results, but they’re not going our way, so it’s normal for the fans to show their discontent. You have to take it all on, reset the mind and start a new week of work with a clear head to face the next game,” the Sevilla-born midfielder said about the team’s current situation. In addition, he stated that “we’re in a bad place. We were determined to get the three points and close the gap; we want to win as soon as possible and when we don’t, it hurts,” he expressed.

The match was very uncomfortable for the Malaguistas, as Jozabed states: “It was a difficult game, with a lot of long balls and second plays. They are almost always well-positioned and it’s tough to generate opportunities against them. We didn’t perform well with the ball, we were too hasty, which may be because of the situation we’re in. In these types of matches, they are stronger than us. Not a great deal was happening, yet whoever scored had a lot to gain, and it was them. We weren’t good with the ball, and we didn’t manage to create chances.”

The Blue and White number ‘19’ couldn’t explain why the team continues to be in a negative dynamic, although he said they’ll keep working hard to turn the situation around. “We live for the results, but they’re not coming. There’s more to this than just not giving our all. We’ve played some games very well and not been rewarded with points. But today we weren’t at our best. We’ll continue giving everything we’ve got and fix the mistakes so they don’t happen again,” he commented.

To conclude his press conference, Jozabed stated that “the Club deserves to be in a different situation” and insisted that “we have to save ourselves no matter what.”
