Málaga CF Femenino defeated UD Almería Femenino away from home on matchday 17 of Segunda Federación Grupo Sur. In the final stages of play, Futu scored the winner for the Blue and Whites.
A Saturday afternoon of Andalusian rivalry at the Estadio de la Juventud Emilio Campra, featuring the presence of Malaguista fans in the stands.
Juanma’s starting-11, with María Arrabal seriously injured, saw Andrea Ríos in goal. Encarni, Ruth, Mérida and Yoli Peche formed the defensive line, with Tati and María Cortés on the double pivot accompanied by Farfán and Carla Aguilar (new to the line-up in place of Olmedo) on the wings. The Futu - Monterroso duo was upfront.
The first half was very even, although Almería generated the most arrivals on the attack. Former Malaguista Lorena, in 19', had a promising opportunity that was hindered by Andrea. Fátima, in 25', and Jessi, in 34', also came close to a goal.
Then in the second half, Marilén came on in place of Cadete Carla. In minute 58, Futu warned of her intentions by scoring a goal that was declared offside. Her attacking teammate, Guatemalan Monterroso, shown the yellow card, was replaced by Carmen Gómez in 62.
Paqui, in 66’ and 68’ launched attempts that grazed Andrea’s crossbar. Then in the 69th minute, Fátima was sent off leaving Almería down to 10 women for the final stages of play. Immediately afterwards, Juanma introduced the experienced Teté onto the pitch in place of Tati and, shortly after, reserve team winger Sofía came on for María Farfán.
Málaga made the most of the superiority to score from a set piece. Futu converted from inside the area (0-1, 79') following a corner kick. The sixth goal of the season for the Malaguista ‘pichichi’.
Almería sought an equaliser in the final minutes, but the scoreboard didn’t move, and MCFF claimed all three points to secure their 10th victory of the season and a provisional 4th place in the standings. Next week the girls are away to current league leaders, Madrid CFF ‘B’.
