Huesca’s effectiveness prevails at El Alcoraz (1-0)

Málaga CF lost out to SD Huesca, the lads’ second straight defeat. A goal from Juan Carlos in 67’ led the locals to victory.

The Blue and Whites faced Huesca on matchday 5 of LaLiga SmartBank, on this warm September evening at El Alcoraz.

Both sides generated chances in the first half. The Malaguista defence, well-positioned on the pitch, barely allowed the locals to get dangerously close to the area. The clearest was a point-blank shot in 26' (Escriche, with a header) that was cleared by Manolo Reina in a display of spectacular reflections.

Málaga CF also had their chances. Guede’s men connected fluidly with midfield and in the rival rea, but luck wasn’t on their side in front of the goal. Febas, Gallar and Villalba were in charge of sending the balls to the area, but they didn’t locate the strikers effectively. Javi Jiménez and Juanfran also insisted with lateral crosses, but they had the same fate. There was no change to the scoreboard after 45 minutes.

In the second half, play continued along the same lines. Huesca attempted to dominate the ball in the initial stages, but this was disallowed by Málaga and as time went on, they increased their presence in the rival area.

However, despite the strong work in defence and midfield, the locals managed to take the lead in minute 67. An accurate shot by Juan Carlos from in front of the area put them 1-0 up.

Following the goal, MCF didn’t weaken their attacking intentions and eagerly searched for an equaliser. Haitam, who joined the match in place of Gallar, was close to netting the 1-1 with a cross in the 74th minute. In addition to the Moroccan, Jozabed, Chavarría, Hervías and Víctor Olmo entered to refresh the team in the final stretch.

The scoreboard didn’t move again and with a 1-0 win, the three points go to SD Huesca. Next weekend Málaga CF are away from home again against CD Tenerife.
