Juanpi and Santa Cruz seal the three points for Málaga CF against SD Eibar.
Raúl Albentosa knows Eibar well, and received a warm welcome with Málaga, and can attest to the great season the rival is having, which comes as no surprise. The player returned to Ipurúa wearing another shirt, and teamed up with Filipenko after having played together this season in the Cup.
Another new addition today was the entrance of newly signed Atsu in the line-up, and a special celebration for Blue and Whites’ captain, Camacho, who has reached 150 matches as a ‘Malaguista’.
Amongst all these players is Venezuelan-born Juanpi Añor for another week. The left-back put the ‘Malaguistas’ in the lead just before half-time, coming from behind with a good pass from Chory on the wing. However, beforehand, soon after the match kicked off, Duje Cop tried to find Charles with a ball that missed the Brazilian by a whisker.
Another good chance was in minute 20’ at the boots of Chory, whose shot was prevented by goalkeeper, Riesgo twice.
It was Juanpi at the end of the first 45 minutes who reaped the rewards and scored the 0-1, and his second consecutive LaLiga goal.
The second half kicked off with a good shot from Cop in front of the target, which was deflected to a corner by Riesgo. Following various chances for both sides, the most promising was from Juanpi towards an empty net that went out. Roque Santa Cruz scored the second ‘Malaguista’ goal in the 90th minute.
With a 0-2 lead, Borja Bastón scored a goal for the home side, making it 1-2 at the end of play.
A hard fought victory for Málaga CF at a difficult ground, who gain points after two games.
