Hard-fought point at La Romareda (1-1)

Málaga CF claimed a point from their visit to La Romareda. Antoñín’s goal (26’) was countered by Eugeni (64’) from the penalty spot.

The Blue and Whites, dressed in black for this match, headed to Zaragoza for the second consecutive match away from La Rosaleda. The team was in action for the matchday 26 league fixture at La Romareda against Real Zaragoza. Natxo González’s starting-11 consisted of: Dani Barrio; Víctor G., Lombán, M. Peybernes, Cufré; Paulino, Escassi, Ramón, Antoñín; Jozabed and Roberto.

The lads started out withdrawn in their own half against the home side’s attempts from lateral free kicks and corners. Lluis López put Dani Barrio to the test (2’) with a powerful header, but the keeper deflected the shot to a corner. As time went on, Natxo’s men became more comfortable on the pitch and began to gain more possession.

It was in minute 26 when Antoñín put the Malaguistas 0-1 in front, thanks to a change in pace and superb definition. Subsequently, the match once again evened out, between a very serious MCF and a Zaragoza that tried to get on the scoreboard with aerial plays.

The same starting Malaguistas continued in the second half, withstanding the initial push from Zaragoza. In minute 59, Febas and Vadillo substituted Antoñín and Jozabed. Shortly afterwards, in 62’, the referee awarded a penalty following an action by Cufré. Eugeni converted from the penalty spot to make the match all square again (1-1).

Paulino tried his luck in 78’ after a good transition, started by Roberto and launched by Vadillo. Then the Malaguista number ‘39’ made way for an energetic Brandon for the final 10 minutes of play.

Málaga CF take home a point from Zaragoza (1-1). The team will return to La Rosaleda on 12th February on matchday 27 of LaLiga SmartBank against UD Almería.
