Group training session in the Athletics Stadium

Málaga CF players were back in training this Thursday morning in the Ciudad de Málaga Athletics Stadium, ahead of Saturday’s match against Real Sociedad. Sergio Sánchez held a press conference this morning.

Like yesterday, the players from Tuesday’s match against Milan had a less intensive session, whilst the rest of the squad focused on continuous running, stretching, rounds, various physical exercises, goal-shooting practice and a mini-match.  Reserve players, Pol, Jurado and Fabrice took part in today’s training, whilst Monreal continues his recovery from his back injury.

The team is back in training tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. in the Ciudad de Málaga Athletics Stadium.

Statements from Sergio Sánchez

“I was suffering with a muscular injury for the past month, then returned to training for two or three days when I was called-up for a League match.  I was then fortunate enough to help the team in the Champions League in an amazing stadium, where we made history against a great rival, and I was playing in a position I’ve never played in before.  I studied the rest of the team and the various positions on the pitch by watching videos, and wanted to help the boys as much as I could.  Things went our way and we made it through to the next round.”

“It really was a fantastic atmosphere in Milan, to see our loyal fans come to support us, especially in these times of economic crisis.  I think we’re more than capable of getting a lot further in this competition, ensuring Málaga keeps growing as a Club, and we are the best team we can be.  We trust in what we’re doing, and the results have proved this which is the most important thing.”

“The best thing about Málaga CF is that we focus on each match one step at a time.  We’ve now put the Champions League to one side, and are now totally focused on the League match on Saturday.”
