Good performance, but defeat for MCF Femenino by Granada (2-0)

The Blue and Whites played an excellent first half, but the opportunities didn’t materialise. The Red and Whites secured a 2-0 home win.

Málaga CF Femenino suffered defeat by 2-0 against Granada CF Femenino on Liga Reto Iberdrola matchday 7. Santibáñez and Lauri scored the rival goals.

The Malaguistas had a successful start to the match. In minute 8, Clo García tried her luck with a shot at goal but the ball grazed the crossbar. Málaga came close to opening the scoring at Estadio de la Juventud. In 15’, captain Adriana missed out on a goal from a free kick. The Blue and Whites felt comfortable on the field of play and maintained a solid defence. It wasn’t a lack of trying to overcome José Herrera’s team’s defence from Granada. In 29’, an attempt from former Malaguista Noe Salas hit Noelia Gil’s post and raised the alarm. Olmedo and Postigo had no problem stopping the rival’s attempts, and towards the end of the first half the visitors controlled play. First Farfán and then Encarni. Both tried to surpass María in goal, without success. At half-time the score remained at 0-0 with two big teams on the pitch.

With the second half in play, Adriana came close to scoring the opener with a promising shot that veered to the left of the goal. Málaga came out better, but in 54’ Santibáñez came up against Noelia Gil and the Blue and White keeper couldn’t stop the goal. Granada went 1-0 in front. Following the goal, Málaga made some changes in search of an equaliser. Ayano joined the game and narrowly missed a goal with a header from an Adriana free kick. Luck wasn’t in favour of the Blue and Whites and in 90’ Granada took a 2-0 lead and won the match.
