Goalless draw for Málaga CF against San Lorenzo in the Copa EuroAmericana

Málaga CF and CA San Lorenzo de Almagro drew 0-0 at the Nuevo Gasómetro, with the Argentinean-based side going on to win the Blue and Whites’ second Copa EuroAmericana match in the Liga World Challenge on penalties.

The rain fell hard on Buenos Aires in the hours leading up to the game foretelling the worst, however the weather let up somewhat for Málaga CF and San Lorenzo for this historic match at the Nuevo Gasómetro in the city of Buenos Aires.  It was a very special game for Argentine players, Angeleri and Tissone, and also for Pol, the young goalkeeper who made his debut in the starting-11 with the Blue and Whites.

Although it was cold, the teams and the San Lorenzo fans warmed up the match.  Málaga CF put on a serious performance in the first half with a very active Amrabat.  The Moroccan-born player on the left assisted Horta to create the best opportunity of this half with a powerful shot from in front of the area, but it was deflected by the rival keeper.

Málaga CF goalkeeper, Pol was also very certain in his interventions, despite the slippery ground, and the first half came to an end with the score at 0-0.

The second half kicked off with good clearance from Espinho however the ball grazed the base of the post following an accurate pass from Recio.

The Blue and Whites continued to play an impeccable game in defence and focused on quick combinations leaving Charles free to try his luck, but again the ball hit the post not long before the 90 minutes was up.

The match ended in a goalless draw and the winner of this Copa EuroAmericana match in Buenos Aires was decided on penalties.  Luck stayed with the home side, resulting in a 4-3 victory for San Lorenzo from the 11-metre mark.
