Goalless draw at the Anxo Carro (0-0)

All square for Málaga CF and CD Lugo on matchday 35 of LaLiga SmartBank.

Málaga CF visited the Anxo Carro for the second time ever, this Tuesday 23rd June, on a warm evening.

On the field of play, equality prevailed during the first 45 minutes. Both sides shared possession and pushed to gain ground on the pitch. The Blue and Whites (wearing navy blue today) had the two clearest chances to open the scoring. Juankar made the most of his position as a winger to launch two powerful crosses, but neither reached Sadiku. The forward was well positioned, but the Red and White defence stood between the Albanian and a goal. At the end of the first half, the scoreboard remained at 0-0.

The second half kicked off in a very similar tone to the first, with possession very much divided. Sadiku again grazed the goal in two almost consecutive attempts. In 69’ he tested the goalkeeper’s reflexes with a powerful shot from the edge of the area. Unfortunately for the Malaguistas, Ander (CD Lugo keeper) managed to clear the ball with his fists. Just a minute later, Renato Santos served up a precise cross from the left for a clear header for the number ‘9’. On this occasion, the ball escaped over the crossbar by mere centimetres.

In minute 76 there was another chance for the visitors. Keiki made his way to the centre of the area and propelled a low shot towards the goal. The good placement of the rival keeper allowed him to deflect the attempt. Juankar, in 80’, narrowly missed out on the 0-1. Following a great triangulation on the left of the area, he tried his luck with a shot that didn’t make the target.

In the end, after several more alternations, the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
