Galilea boosts the defence

The Club has signed Einar Galilea for the next two seasons, with the option of one more. The versatile defender arrives on a free transfer from NK Istra 1961 of the Croatian First Division.

The player from the Basque Country has passed the relevant medical examination at Centro Médico Vithas Rosaleda and signed his new contract at the Club's offices along with sporting director Loren Juarros. “I’m very excited. Coming to a great club like Málaga CF is a jump forward in my career. Personally, I'm going to be very happy here. I'm really looking forward to meeting all the fans and the city, and achieving beautiful things with this shield,” Einar told MCFTV.

Einar Galilea Azaceta (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1994) is an effective central defender who can move well with the ball, and also act as a defensive pivot, who trained in the ranks of Deportivo Alavés.

In the first team, shortly before his 18th birthday, he made his debut under the orders of former Malaguista coach, Natxo González in a successful 12/13 campaign for the Vitorians, Segunda B champions who were promoted to the silver division.

Between 2012 and 2017 Galilea was a member of the Alaves reserve team, although in the youth ranks took part in 27 games (21 in the Second Division and six in the Copa del Rey) with Alavés, forming part of the team that returned as champions to the elite in 15/16.

On loan from the Babazorro team, Galilea gained European experience in the ranks of Croatian NK Rudes (17/18), French outfit FC Sochaux (18/19) and also Croatia’s NK Istra 1961, where he has played on loan for two years and another two, since 2021, owned by the current fifth place team in the first professional league in Croatia.

At the age of 29, he returns to the Spanish game in full footballing maturity and committed to the Málaga CF sports project. Thank you for choosing Malaga, Einar! Welcome!
