End of the Cup journey for Juvenil DH

Málaga CF were eliminated by RC Celta de Vigo (0-2) in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey Juvenil. Hugo Álvarez and Martín Conde scored the rival goals.

Málaga CF faced RC Celta de Vigo in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey Juvenil, in a one-legged tie at the Federación Malagueña de Fútbol ground in front of around a thousand fans.

Luis Bueno selected the following starting line-up: Carlos López in goal; Zoilo, Recio, Andrés Caro and Espínola in defence; Ibra, Aitor, Álex Calvo and Oso in midfield; Álex García as playmaker and Loren upfront.

The Malaguistas, after defeating Cádiz in the previous round, were up against the rival from Galicia, who remain undefeated this 21/22 season.

The first half was pretty even, with a Blue and White team that piled the pressure on, frequently reaching the rival area. However, despite the clear opportunities, the scoreboard remained the same at half-time.

In the second half, the rival took control of play and within six minutes scored twice to make a pass to the quarter-finals an uphill struggle for our boys.

Hugo Álvarez in 58' (0-1) and Martín Conde in 64' (0-2) scored the goals for Celta.

For the remainder of play, Luis Bueno’s boys went all out in search of a goal and get back in the game. The Malaguista coach made some changes, moving to a defence of three and with Loren and Destiny upfront.

The fans cheered the team on and the Juvenil A got the ball inside the area in the final stages, but didn’t manage to finish.

The final result was a 0-2 defeat, eliminating Málaga CF from the Copa del Rey Juvenil, after competing so well throughout against a quality rival like Celta de Vigo.
