En-Nesyri, reserve for Morocco in the World Cup

The Malaguista striker is one of three players selected by coach, Hervé Renard to reinforce the 23-player squad in case of casualties for the World Cup.

The Morocco national team has announced the list of 23 called-up players for the FIFA World Cup taking place in Russia from June. The North African country is in Group B, along with Spain, Iran and Portugal, and will debut against Iran on 15th June in St. Petersburg.

For the competition, coach, Hervé Renard has called-up 23 players, and pre-advised another three reserves. They will immediately be called-up should any of the 23 players be unable to take part in the World Cup. Amongst these reserve players is young Malaguista striker, Youssef En-Nesyri.

The striker from the MCF Academy has had a remarkable season in LaLiga, scoring four goals out of the 24 matches he’s played. It should be noted that although he made his debut last season, it was in 17/18 where he consistently enjoyed the most minutes with the Málaga CF first team. His great role also led to him being voted MVP by fans the highest number of times, just behind Roberto.

Congratulations, Youssef!
