Draw in Tenerife to remain unbeaten away from La Rosaleda (0-0)
All square for Málaga CF against CD Tenerife in the 11th round of LaLiga Hypermotion. On Sunday, SD Eibar will visit La Rosaleda.
Midweek match in Tenerife for Málaga CF. Around a hundred Málaga fans travelled to support Pellicer’s team in the stands of the Heliodoro Rodríguez López. On the pitch, Pellicer made several changes compared to the last game against Real Oviedo. The starting lineup consisted of Alfonso Herrero; C. Puga, Nelson Monte, Pastor, Víctor; Luismi, Juanpe, Aaron Ochoa; Lobete, Antoñito Cordero, and Sergio Castel.
The match began with the home team taking the initiative, while Málaga CF adopted a more defensive stance. After the first 10 minutes, Pellicer’s side pushed forward, raising their line and stringing together several possessions in the opponent's half.
The first key action of the match came in the 20th minute. Luismi Cruz faced Víctor on the wing, and after cutting inside at the edge of the box, the referee signalled a foul against the Malaguista defender. Initially, the referee ruled the move to be outside the area. However, VAR decreed that the contact occurred on the line, and the foul should be changed to a penalty.
Enric Gallego took responsibility from the penalty spot, but his shot went wide. The score remained 0-0 on the scoreboard at the Heliodoro.
Tenerife continued to seek the opening goal, but Alfonso Herrero once again showcased his great form with several impressive saves.
Antoñito had Málaga's best chance of the first half. The winger received the ball near the area and aimed a powerful shot at the near post, which Salvi Carrasco deflected for a corner. However, the score remained 0-0 until half-time.
After the break, Manu Molina replaced Juanpe. The return to the pitch saw alternating chances for both teams. A combination between Lobete and Castel in the 52nd minute created the clearest opportunity for Pellicer's side, but it was ruled out for offside after a shot that hit the crossbar.
Kevin Medina came on for Lobete in the 57th minute, while Dioni and Yanis replaced Antoñito and Aaron Ochoa in the 73rd minute.
Subsequently, Dani Lorenzo came on for Sergio Castel in the 82nd minute. Two minutes later, the midfielder attempted a shot that went over the crossbar. The last clear chance for our side came in the 88th minute when Dioni connected with a header after a corner from Víctor, but the ball struck the crossbar.
A goalless draw and another point for Málaga CF, who now have four consecutive draws. After 11 games, the team has accumulated 14 points in the standings.
