The match against Antequera to take place at the Ciudad Deportiva Fundación MCF
The 52nd edition of the ‘Ciudad del Torcal’ trophy has been cancelled, and Málaga CF and Antequera CF will play a friendly on Saturday 19th July at the Ciudad Deportiva Fundación MCF (20:00). The match will be played behind closed doors and broadcast on 101TV.
The 52nd edition of the ‘Ciudad del Torcal’ trophy has been cancelled due to the condition of the pitch at El Maulí. To maintain the preseason plans for both teams, Málaga CF and Antequera CF will instead play a friendly match on Saturday 19th July 19 at 20:00 at the Ciudad Deportiva Fundación MCF.
The main pitch at the Ciudad Deportiva will host what has become a regular fixture in both clubs’ summer preparations. In fact, Antequera CF faced Málaga CF two summers ago in the most recent edition of the Costa del Sol Cup at La Rosaleda, where Sergio Pellicer’s side secured a 2-1 win. This upcoming match will mark Málaga CF’s first preseason game of the current campaign following two weeks of training.
The strong relationship between Málaga CF and Antequera CF was further solidified last February when the Antequera club signed the Club’s Framework Agreement. This symbolic gesture adds significance to the upcoming match, which will be dedicated to the provincial clubs that have joined the agreement. The stands will be filled with children from those affiliated provincial clubs.
Although the match will be played behind closed doors, it will be broadcast on television and streamed on Málaga CF’s official YouTube channel, thanks to coverage provided by 101TV.
