Effectiveness decides the match in Fuenlabrada (1-0)

Defeat for Málaga CF against CF Fuenlabrada at Estadio Fernando Torres on matchday 32 of LaLiga SmartBank. The duel was decided by efficiency in the rival area in which the Malaguistas fought until the end to go level.

It was a cloudy Saturday afternoon at Estadio Fernando Torres with CF Fuenlabrada and Málaga CF in action on LaLiga SmartBank matchday 32. On the pitch, Natxo González selected the following starting line-up: Dani Barrio, Víctor G., Lombán, Andrés, Cufré, Escassi, Jozabed, Aleix, Jairo, Brandon and Kevin.

After a shaky start, full of disputes and with no clear dominance for either side, Fuenlabrada had the first opportunity to get ahead on the scoreboard. A rehearsed play from the corner, in the 7th minute, ended in an attempt by Bouldini from the edge of the area. Dani Barrio showed his good reflexes and deflected the clear chance for the home side.

Málaga, driven by the Blue and White supporters in the stands, didn’t take long to react. Kevin’s shot collided with the post after a great cross from Cufré from the left wing around the 15-minute mark. From then on, Málaga tried to impose their pace of play with the ball in the face of numerous fouls by the local team.

A great cross by Jairo from the right that Cufré almost reached, and a combination between the number '10' and Febas that Belman took out, were the clearest opportunities for the Malaguistas. Fuenla made a few approaches and relied on set pieces to create danger in Dani Barrio's area.

In the second half, Málaga continued to search for a goal. Again, Jairo served up a great ball to the area, but Brandon just missed out. In minute 66, the team’s most dangerous chance arrived. Febas managed to get ahead of the local central defender to put Brandon in an advantageous situation, one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but the number '9' didn’t manage to control the ball and the opportunity was lost.

Immediately afterwards, in the 68th minute, it was Bouldini who opened the scoring for Fuenlabrada following a play on the left (1-0). Natxo González opted for fresh legs to find the equaliser, bringing on Paulino, Chavarría and Vadillo, and later on, Sekou.

The team went all out in the final minutes, with chances for Vadillo and Cufré, but the scoreboard didn’t alter. Málaga leave Estadio Fernando Torres empty-handed and remain on 37 points. Next Sunday 27th, at La Rosaleda, the league competition will continue against SD Huesca (18:15).
