Holland only scored one point following their draw with Denmark in their first match. They were defeated by Germany in their second game and against Portugal on Sunday night (both by 2-1). Despite reaching the highest level of European football with various physical problems, Mathijsen played for the full 90 minutes in Holland’s second and third matches.
