Away defeat at Butarque (2-0)

Málaga CF were defeated by CD Leganés on matchday 10 of the league season. Goals from Diego García and Álex Millán sealed the win for Paco López’s side.

Málaga CF visited CD Leganés on matchday 10 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION this Sunday 19th October at 14:00.

Pellicer started with A. Herrero; Rafita, Einar, Murillo, Dani Sánchez; Juanpe, Dani Lorenzo; Larrubia, Joaquín, Rafa, and Chupe, the same starting-11 that defeated RC Deportivo the previous week at La Rosaleda.

The match got off to a bad start for the Blue and Whites, wearing orange on this occasion. Diego García put the home side ahead (1-0, 4’) after a quick run down the right wing by Juan Cruz.

With the score against them, the Malaguistas worked hard to gain possession and territory, gradually succeeding.

David Larrubia and Rafita created a double chance in the 11th minute, both denied by Juan Soriano. Rafa delivered an excellent through ball for Larrubia, who struck low from the right side of the box. The ball fell to the full-back, who tried again from the edge of the area, but this time the opposing keeper held onto it.

In the 31st minute, Einar got a slight touch with his head on a corner taken from the left flank by Dani Lorenzo. He was in a great position to finish but missed contact by mere inches. The home side also had a chance, a powerful and tricky shot from the edge of the box, but Alfonso Herrero reacted quickly to deflect the ball that was heading straight for the top corner. The first half ended with the score at 1-0.

After the break, Pellicer made two substitutions: Einar and Chupe made way for Izan Merino and Jauregi. The team, particularly through the efforts of David Larrubia, created a few chances, but all were denied by former Málaga goalkeeper Juan Soriano.

Málaga CF enjoyed more possession and territorial control, facing a well-organized pepinero side that sat back and looked to counterattack through another former Malaguista, Juan Cruz, their main attacking threat.

In the final stretch of the match, Leganés scored their second goal through one of their substitutes, Álex Millán (2-0, 72’). Former Leganés player Darko Brasanac, along with Lobete, came on in the 74th minute to replace Juanpe and Rafa R.

The final substitution for Málaga CF was Haitam, who replaced Joaquín in the 82nd minute and tried his luck with a long-range shot in the 84th, safely caught by Soriano. The scoreline remained unchanged, and the 2-0 result gave the home side all three points.

After 10 matches in LALIGA HYPERMOTION, Málaga CF remain on 11 points in the lower part of the standings. Their next league fixture is next Sunday (14:00 at La Rosaleda) against FC Andorra.
