Martín Demichelis isn’t intimidated by the Signal Iduna Park, with a capacity crowd anticipated tomorrow: “The stadium will be absolutely packed for this match. I know how much pressure the Borussia fans will put on us, but such an intense atmosphere will help to maintain our complete concentration,” affirms the Argentinean-born defender, who spent seven years with Bayern Munich.
Regarding the absence of coach Manuel Pellegrini during this evening’s training session, following the death of his father at the weekend, Demichelis states: “Manuel didn’t let us know what had happened until after Saturday’s match. We understand that he’ll be here in time for tomorrow’s game, and we hope we can get a great result for him.”
“Borussia isn’t just about one, two or three players. They have their own identity and philosophy, and I think they showed last week that they’ll take advantage of any little mistake their rival may make. They’ve got two players upfront who combine speed and precision, so we need to be completely focused. Borussia are a very ‘complete’ team in every aspect; they work well in set pieces, and have some fantastic individuals. The only way we’ll reach the semi-finals is if we play an amazing match,” explains the ‘Malaguista’ defender about tomorrow’s rival.
Ignacio Camacho stresses the importance and special nature surrounding tomorrow’s match: “It’s obviously a very important match for us, that few footballers get the chance to experience. This match will be totally different to any other, but if we perform our best football, we can reach the semi-finals.” The midfielder also refers to the atmosphere tomorrow at the Borussia Dortmund stadium: “The packed-out stadium will be great for us, as an empty arena doesn’t make for an exciting match. We’re ready for a spectacular game tomorrow.”
