Málaga CF Femenino played Levante UD 'B' on Sunday, at the Francisco Romero ground in Rincón de la Victoria, on matchday 26 of Segunda Federación Grupo Sur.
Juanma Gómez’s team arrived at this match in 7th place in the table with 41 points, while the Valencian side was in 3rd with 56 points.
The MCFF starting-11, in a 1-4-4-2 formation, was made up of Andrea in goal; Olmedo, Águeda, Ruth and Yoli Peche in a line of four defenders; Tati, María Cortés in the double pivot, with Encarni and María Farfán on the wings; and Nazareth and Monterroso upfront.
In the pre-match team photo, the players posed wearing the shirts of Bertuchi and Futu, who are suffering with long-term injury.
The Blue and White team came out with the lines very advanced, looking to pile the pressure on, whilst the rival was looking to attack the spaces.
The first chances of the match went to the visitors. Esther Gómez, in minute 9, had a very clear shot, but Ruth blocked her attempt inside the area. Minutes later, Gema tried her luck from distance but came up against Andrea. The Malaguista goalkeeper also had to intervene to save two shots by Carlota shortly before the 20th minute.
Minutes later, a Monterroso cross sought out Nazaret but was deflected by goalkeeper, Ángela.
Andrea, who suffered some discomfort just before the hydration break, intervened safely to deny two more attempts by Carlota.
With another cross from the right of the Malaguista attack, this time from Tati, the first half came to an end.
Soon into the second half, a set piece put Levante B ahead. Paula Arce took a corner kick that Esther Gómez headed into the net (0-1, 49').
MCFF tried to get back into the match, but a second blow came in the early stages of the second half. Carolina took advantage of a defensive error to enter the area and extend the rival’s lead (0-2, 58').
At that moment, Juanma made the first change of the game, bringing on Teté for Tati in midfield.
In 66', reserve team player Daniela made her debut with the first team, replacing Olmedo and occupying the right wing.
After getting over conceding the two goals, the Blue and White team enjoyed a great final stretch of the match. María Cortés gained possession inside the area from a throw-in and was about to dribble the ball past the visiting goalkeeper Ángela. And before the half hour mark, the Malaguistas enjoyed two clear opportunities. The lateral free kick taken by María Farfán fell to Monterroso and her close-range shot was saved by the goalkeeper, yet Nazaret almost scored from the rebound.
In minute 75 there were two new debuts with MCFF and a long-awaited return. Cadetes Carmen Aguilar, right-back, and Estrella, left-winger, made their debut and Estefanía returned to play after more than a year, occupying midfield. Nazareth, María Farfán and Yoli stepped off the pitch.
The local push continued and as a result came the goal that put Juanma Gómez's team in the game. Carmen Aguilar crossed from the right and Encarni slammed the ball into the goal (1-2, 86').
However, Levante B scored their third in stoppage time, the work of Carolina (1-3, 92').
Málaga CF Femenino remain in 7th position with 41 points and next weekend will face Real Betis B at home, in 6th place with 46 points.
