Málaga CF will face UD Almería away from home on matchday 36 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION. The clash between third and fourth in the table, an exciting regional rivalry, will take place this Sunday 19th April at 21:00. The fifth captain’s armband dedicated to Málaga’s districts, designed by artist José Luis Puche, will feature the iconography of Cruz de Humilladero.
This area has become one of the main residential and commercial hubs of Málaga. Located to the west of the historic centre, its urban development accelerated in the second half of the 20th century, shaping a dynamic area that today combines a high population density with a strong presence of services and economic activity.
Among its most representative landmarks is, of course, the Cruz de Humilladero itself, a historic feature that gives the district its name and symbolises the origins of the area’s urban growth. Around it, neighbourhoods have developed with a strong sense of community and a wide network of traditional shops that preserve the area’s everyday character.
Commerce is one of the district’s main pillars. Major streets such as Avenida de Andalucía and Avenida de Velázquez serve as key economic arteries, while the Carranque Municipal Market and local businesses further strengthen the vibrancy of the area’s commercial life.
The town also stands out for its strong provision of public facilities, including sports infrastructure, most notably the historic Ciudad Deportiva Carranque ‘Javier Imbroda’, as well as educational centres that serve a diverse population. Urban green spaces and public squares further enhance community life, encouraging social interaction and neighbourhood cohesion.
In terms of mobility, Cruz de Humilladero benefits from strategic connections that fully integrate it into the city, with direct access to the centre and other metropolitan areas. This accessibility, combined with its wide range of shops and services, makes it one of the most active and well-functioning districts in Málaga.
The Carranque Municipal Market, one of the most iconic examples of civic architecture in Málaga, is featured on the captain’s armband for #AlmeríaMálaga. It is surrounded by a lattice of ironwork and blue and ochre ceramics, evoking the typical single-family homes of the area. At the bottom, in the centre, appears a biznaga, a traditional Málaga flower, recalling the one found at Cortijo de Torres.
The Cruz de Humilladero armband designed by José Luis Puche, along with the previous editions dedicated to Málaga Este, Málaga Centro, Ciudad Jardín, and Palma-Palmilla, is available exclusively through Málaga CF’s official online store.
