Cruel twist in stoppage time (1-1)

Málaga CF Femenino drew with Real Unión de Tenerife Santa Cruz, away from home on matchday 6 of Segunda Federación Grupo Sur. Futu put the Blue and Whites in front, and Benchara, in the last action of the game, took the locals level.

It was a sunny Sunday morning in Tenerife, and on the pitch at Argelio Tabares both teams arrived at this game with nine points following three victories and two defeats each.

Juanma opted for the following starting-11: Arrabal in goal; Encarni, captain Ruth, Mérida and Olmedo in defence; Félicité and Cortés on the double pivot, with Marilén and Torralvo on the wings; and Monterroso and Futu, in her first starting line-up of the season, on the attack.

The score remained equal in the first half until shortly after a water break in the 30th minute of play due to the heat. Futu, with a beautifully crafted goal, put the Blue and Whites ahead (0-1, 34’). The second League goal in a row for the number ‘11’. The Malaguistas maintained their lead at half-time.

The second half continued in a similar tone, with an MCFF consistent in defence against the locals that found an equaliser at the last minute. They did so in the 7th minute of stoppage time with a goal from Benchara (1-1, 97’).

The match ended all square and Málaga Femenino have accumulated three games on the bounce without a loss. Next week they’ll return to the Francisco Romero ground in Rincón de la Victoria for a duel of Andalusian rivalry against Real Betis Balompié ‘B’.
