Málaga CF Femenino defeated Fundación Albacete Femenino by 4-2 in the match corresponding to Liga Iberdrola matchday 26. Marta Cazalla, Paula Fernández, Leti and Raquel scored for Málaga whilst Alba Pomares and Bulatovic got the goals for Albacete.
The Blue and Whites faced a game of crucial importance and although it was Albacete who dominated possession in the initial stages, it was the Malaguistas who took the lead. Marta Cazalla opened the scoring with a superb header in 23’, her debut goal as a Malaguista in Liga Iberdrola (1-0). Málaga began to feel more comfortable on the pitch, however five minutes before half-time Albacete took the score to 1-1 thanks to a goal from Alba Pomares. The goal received harsh protests from the stands for being a possible offside.
In the second half, the Blue and Whites fought for possession. The willingness shown by Antonio Contreras’ girls during the entire second half led to the second goal for the locals from Paula Fernández in 57’. The midfielder gained possession inside the area and took her team to a 2-1 lead.
The opportunities were shared between both sides, but Málaga secured a 3-1 lead from a set piece perfectly executed by Leti in 74’. The Malaguista repeated goal against Albacete to increase the home team’s advantage. The rival, far from throwing in the towel, went all out and took the score to 3-2 with a goal from Bulatovic in 79’. There was still a lot to be decided and although the locals dominated the scoreboard, Málaga took a step forward and Raquel sealed victory with a superb goal to make the final result 4-2 in 86’. Play was prolonged for a few more minutes and Antonio Contreras’ girls achieved an important victory as they returned to winning ways.
