Cristian, Estefanía and Dani, ambassadors of sport in Benahavís
Benahavís is one of the most privileged enclaves on the Costa del Sol. Its location, climate and natural surroundings make this municipality a small paradise that visitors inevitably fall in love with.
This municipality is not only a powerful nerve centre for quality tourism, but also for sport. The Guadalmina river, which runs through the town, is one of the most outstanding river routes in Andalucía. The professional sports facilities are the venue for summer and winter preparations for clubs of the highest level. Indeed, Málaga CF has held several concentrations at the municipal facilities.
In addition, the commitment to professional sports also includes patronage and sponsorship. In fact, Benahavís has featured on MCF’s official kits for nine seasons.
Furthermore, as is tradition every year, Málaga CF spent time with the boys and girls from the Benahavís Municipal Sports Schools. From Marbella, player Cristian and the first team’s second coach, Manolo Sánchez led a visiting delegation that was completed by player Estefanía and Genuine team member, Dani Hermoso.
“We are now a family, we’ve been with Málaga Club de Fútbol for many years. It’s an honour to have the team from the province with us,” said Román González, head of sport at the Benahavís Town Hall, to MCFTV, who explained that the municipal school already has around 280 children “in all possible categories, and growing every year. The Málaga-Benahavís pairing has toured Spain and Europe, and people in the world of football recognise the good name of Benahavís,” he added.
For his part, Cristian was “very happy to come here and try to help” the guys “in case they want to be players in the future. Enthusiasm? It’s the same as I had when I was a child and saw the Málaga players,” he said.
Sevilla-born Estefanía saw “quite a few girls,” which caught her attention. “It has impressed me, as when I was little there weren’t so many girls.” Dani Hermoso (Málaga Genuine) commented that everyone “was very happy and excited, as if it were the first visit” to the Costa del Sol municipality.
