Basti’s emotional visit to CEIP María de la O

The APDM event commemorated Día Internacional del Pueblo Gitano on 8^th April. The Association of Málaga Sports Journalists, with the collaboration of the "la Caixa" Foundation, has been developing with “El deporte va por barrios” an educational sports and social program in various schools in Malaga.

Under the slogan “El pueblo gitano: mucho más que arte,” a visit was made to CEIP María de la O in the Los Asperones neighbourhood, a school that in 2022 launched the Club's Blue and White Values campaign via the MCF Foundation . And what better reference than our Sebastián Fernández Reyes 'Basti' to talk about his personal experiences in the world of sport.

The event, hosted by sports journalist Félix Godoy, was attended by Basti,  Genuine player Cristian and Lucas Rodríguez, coordinator of the MCF Foundation, who provided gifts for the students. Basti, in turn, received a commemorative gift in the form of a biznaga.

During the emotional event, Marta Fernández, Basti's daughter made a surprise visit. “She’s like me, but pretty. A model, she is gorgeous,” said her proud father just before she appeared. “You’ve made me cry, I didn’t expect this,” Basti said. “He never loses hope, that's why he has achieved what he achieved,” Marta stated to those present.

A memorable day that our Basti and the students from CEIP María de la O will never forget.
