Condolences for the death of Ramoní

Ramón Martínez Pérez ‘Ramoní’, a CD Málaga player between 1960 and 1962, passed away the day before yesterday. The Club expresses deepest sympathies to Ramoní’s family and friends. Rest in Peace.

Born in Melilla on 6th February 1929, Ramoní emerged in several Melilla-based teams, before moving to Atlético Tetuán in the 1949/50 season, then in the Second Division. He hadn’t finished that campaign before he was transferred to Sevilla FC, where he remained for nine seasons, becoming an international both with the first team (two matches) and the B team.  In 1958 he signed to Granada CF, where he competed in the Copa del Generalísimo in 1959 against FC Barcelona.

In 1960 he joined CD Málaga, recently promoted to the Second Division.  He made his debut with the Malaguista entity in the first match of the season against CD Mestalla, resulting in a victory for the Martiricos outfit by 4-2. In 1960/61, he took part in nine League and one Cup game. The following season he had less prominence, competing in just two League matches, and before the campaign ended – that finished with First Division promotion for the Malaguistas – he moved to CD Fuengirola, where he retired from active football.

Subsequently, he coached CD Fuengirola, Melilla CF and Xerez CD, amongst other teams.
