Chiba Minori brings a touch of Japan to the Malaguista defence

The defender from Zaragoza CFF becomes the first Japanese-born player to wear the Málaga CF jersey.

Chiba Minori (Japan, 6/09/1991) is the first player from Japan to join the ranks of Málaga CF. Minori, from Zaragoza CFF - who competed in the First Division and was relegated to the silver category in the 2017-18 season - arrives on the Costa del Sol with the aim of reinforcing the Blue and White defence.

A life linked to football

Minori began playing football at eight years of age in her home country, and arrived in Spain from the Japanese team, Urawa Red Ladies. Beforehand she played at FC Kitatachimawa until she was 12 years old, and subsequently moved to Reineta FC until she reached 14. Whilst a teenager, Minori competed in the youth categories of the Urawa Red Ladies and between the ages of 19 and 22 moved to the University of Waseda to then return to the Urawa Red Ladies.
