Celta de Vigo – an uncomfortable rival at La Rosaleda

Málaga Club de Fútbol is welcoming Real Club Celta de Vigo to La Rosaleda on Saturday at 10 p.m., a somewhat uncomfortable rival, having won five of the last 11 matches during their visit to the Martiricos stadium.

Celta de Vigo come to La Rosaleda with a run of positive results behind them at this ground.  Since 1999/00 until now, Celta de Vigo have played 11 matches at the Martiricos stadium, of which they’ve won five.  Four games ended in a draw, whilst Málaga Club de Fútbol won on two occasions (one in the First Division, the other in the Second Division).

Last season’s clash between these two rivals was tough for the Blue and Whites, as Celta de Vigo won by a massive 0-5.  Málaga CF’s last victory against Celta de Vigo was in 2007/08 in the Second Division, with a 2-1 win, thanks to goals from Raúl Gaitán and Apoño, following an initial goal by Celta’s Vara.

Málaga CF’s only First Division victory against Celta de Vigo was in 2003/04.  The Blue and Whites, with Juande Ramos at the helm, won by 2-1 with goals from Málaga’s Fernando Sanz and Miguel Ángel, and Milosevic for Celta.
