Celebrating Veleta to pave the way to equality

Málaga CF celebrates a round table with 40 Loyal Malaguistas and with the participation of five professionals who emulate the Malaguista icon in their respective careers.

The 8th March is a designated day for the struggle and awareness of equality between the sexes. This afternoon, 40 women and Loyal Malaguistas celebrated this day in memory of the figure of Ana Carmona, 'Veleta'.

Via a prize draw in the Loyal Malaguista Private Area, the fans gathered at La Rosaleda to enjoy a very special experience. They kicked off the afternoon with a tour of the MCF Museum and, later, met in the 'Juan Cortés' press room for a discussion with five leading women in their respective professions.

Alicia Fuentes: A professional football player with a long career spanning more than 25 years. She is a champion of three leagues, a triple - with Atlético Málaga - and an international with the Spanish National Team - achieving third place in Europe in 1997 - she is considered a legend of women's national football. Not surprisingly, she has a street named after her in the municipality where she was born, Totalán.

Lidia Wizner: A bus driver with more than 18 years of experience. She was a pioneer in the Vázquez Olmedo firm and a benchmark in the field of collective transport.

María Dolores Pérez: The first female Civil Guard in Andalucía. She belongs to the first generation of female agents of the force. At just 21 years old, she arrived in Málaga where she still remains now.

Alba Cano: Award-winning racing driver. A champion of Andalucía Karting in the X30 category and also Andalucía. She was the first woman to win the Andalusian Circuit Speed Championship. She is also the champion of Spain and Europe in Touring Car Resistance.

Isa Guerrero: Legendary captain of Atlético Málaga. She holds the first treble of national football - along with Alicia Fuentes. She is currently a delegate of the AFE Women's Committee, fighting for the rights of professional football players at national level.

The Loyal Malaguistas shared many anecdotes and experiences with them, with the common thread of Nita Carmona, Veleta, the leading figure of feminism. Jesús Hurtado, a journalist who discovered her story, was unable to attend for scheduling reasons, but has actively collaborated in holding this event.

Veleta, thank you for marking the path of equality for us.
